A plant-based diet


In this short article I will explain why a couple months ago I ditched eat and almost all animal products in favour of plants and fruit and how this move has virtually changed my world.

There was a time when I thrived on a meat diet. I loved paleo. I could have half -dozen eggs and bacon in the morning, a massive chicken salad for lunch and a raw steak for dinner, day after day. I was lean and strong and felt good. I was even guilty of turning my wife carnivore again, after being a vegetarian for 15 years. For her own good, of course.

Then I learned that one of my kettlebell idols, Mike Mahler, was coming to the UK and I would have a rare opportunity to train with him.
I had been following Mike for some time then, I have his kettlebell and strength work. I was also aware he was a vegan but I wasn't ready to acknowledge that fact yet.

6 weeks prior to the workshop, to gain a better insight into Mike's methods, I went meat free. I knew it was only for a short time, and the muscle and strength losses, which were bound to happen (sic!) , wouldn't be too big. I was ready to sacrifice this much for the sake of the experiment.

At this point I was convinced that I was signing up for 6 weeks of torture. I was anticipating daily meat cravings and boring, tasteless food.

I was so wrong..

In those 6 weeks I discovered that I don't have to eat eggs and bacon every morning to feel great and strong.
I also learned that an animal-based diet, loved by the industry leading media and crossfit rednecks isn’t the only solution for a fit and strong body. I started searching. I read number of books, articles, research papers all in favour of a plant based diet. I discovered athletes, strong and fit, who only eat vegetables, fruit and nuts.
What is most important, I have noticed no change in my strength levels after the switch. I have felt as good and as full of energy, as before. I have even dropped 2% of body fat, down to 12%.

Making up my mind.

I am fairly new to a plant based diet, but I already see an amazing change in my body, in my mood and happiness levels.
What's more, I don't have to be part of the cruelty of the meat industry anymore. Deep in my heart I know it is only a matter of time before people open their eyes and minds and say STOP to animal exploitation and turn their heads to more sustainable ways of living.
I have made up my mind already, now it's your turn...
